- What are
the system requirements for WinUndelete?
To use WinUndelete, you need Windows 95, 98, ME, NT
4.0, 2000, XP, or 2003. The software does not work
on a Macintosh or the Linux/Unix platforms.
- How to install the program on my computer?
If you download the direct-use package, no installation
is required. You may copy the direct-use package,
which contains only one executable file, winundelete2.exe,
to a removable disk, such as a floppy disk. You then
double-click winundelete2.exe and start your recovery.
Otherwise, if you download installation package, you
need to install it on your hard drive before use.
You must have administrator privileges on your system
to install and use WinUndelete.
- How to uninstall the program from my computer?
If you use the direct-use package, you may simply
delete it from your disk without running an uninstall
process. To uninstall WinUndelete, you can click Start
> Settings on the Windows Taskbar. Click Control
Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Locate
WinUndelete in the list of currently installed programs
and click the Add/Remove button.
- Can I recover files deleted from the Recycle
Bin? Files removed from network shares? Files deleted
in a DOS command window? Files removed from Windows
Explorer with the SHIFT key held down?
Absolutely. WinUndelete can recover files in all of
the situations mentioned previously if your files
have not been overwritten.
- What file system does WinUndelete support?
It supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS, covering
hard disks, floppy disks, zip disks, MO and JAZ disks,
digital camera storage and digital media, external
flash drives, and more. WinUndelete cannot recover
deleted files from CD-R/W or DVD+/-R/W disks. If you
need to recover deleted files from CD/DVD, you may
try some removable media data recovery software -
e.g. BadCopy

- The WinUndelete scan takes a long time
or finds lots of files. How do I speed up the scan
or narrow the search?
You can speed up or narrow the search by using the
initial scan wizard to specify only the file types
that you are looking for. Also, if the files or folders
you need to recover have appeared in the folder tree
during scanning, you can click STOP and the software
recovers any files that are already located.
- The preview windows said that a certain
file could not be displayed. Can I still recover it?
This might indicate that other data has overwritten
the file that you want.
- If I purchase a registration key, how
